H.O.W.'s Mission

H.O.W. - Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper's Mission is to:

Empower and support women in the early detection and prevention of ovarian cancer through community-driven education, compassionate advocacy and support, accessible resources, and fostering hope. We advance progress by funding research and the training of future medical leaders to improve ovarian cancer outcomes.

The following existing initiatives below support the mission statement above:

  • H.O.W. supports the Dr. Robert C. Knapp Research Fellowship by funding basic or translational research in ovarian cancer.

  • H.O.W. helps women with ovarian cancer in financial need through the Glenda M. Wright Angel Fund.

  •  H.O.W. presents educational programs concerning the recent advances being made in ovarian cancer.

  • H.O.W. awards scholarships to medical students in the State of Florida interested in gynecologic oncology who work with a gynecologic oncologist preceptor during their elective time in medical school.

  • H.O.W. supports the screening of underserved and or uninsured women for genetic mutations that increase risk of ovarian cancer.
